Sifting through a thrift shop in the UK, Haley Malsom stumbled upon three books from the Harry Potter series. She paid the equivalent $4.23 in USD for each and went on her way. What she didn’t know is that she could have just found treasure.
As it turns out, the ones that she picked up were rare first edition versions of the 4th, 5th and 6th books in the series.
Hayley was not even aware that the books could be insanely valuable until she got home and did a quick Google search.
The value of a first edition Harry Potter novel ranges quite a bit. Top quality, undamaged, versions of the first book in he series can fetch thousands dollars. Authors signatures and specific illustrations can also skyrocket the value.
One was sold in the Texas for nearly $85,000. This particular book belonged to the first batch of 500 first editions for harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
